Happy St. Valentine’s Day!

Chrissy’s Balloon crop

I hope you all will be spending your Valentine’s Day with the ones you love!  I hope to be spending most of the day in my stamp room!

I didn’t get a chance to post this for last Thursday’s  Ways to Use it challenge - Embellishment pile-up (WT204).  So what better time than now, on this special day!  It looks to me like our little Miss Chrissy (who’s on sale right now at Rubbernecker) has just been waiting for today!

Chrissy’s Balloon

It really was fun piling on all the embellishments.  I’m definitely going to try to do that more often!

All the little hearts on Chrissy’s apron are coated in liquid pearls.  The apron, the flower in her hair, the balloon and the heart on the balloon are all popped up on foam tape.  And she was so much fun to color!!  I wish you could see more of the red heart die cut cardstock that’s behind her.  It’s really cool!

Enjoy your weekend!  I hope it’s filled with kisses and chocolate!!

Don’t forget to leave a comment HERE to be entered to win the new Our Craft Lounge set Kit the Kat.

Postage Heart - Featured Stamper challenge

Postage Heart crop

After spending 5 hours cleaning out my closet (Whew!), I needed a break!  So I decided to check out the Featured Stamper challenge at SCS.  Today’s challenge FS105 features k dunbrookShe’s got a wonderful gallery!  I chose this card - Hint of Red - to CASE. Only I used pink instead of red, and kept my card much simpler.

Postage Heart

My Postage Heart from Rubbernecker Stamp Co. was close enough to her quilt-like pieced heart.  And I decided to go without a sentiment on this card.

Check out all the other CASE’s of Karen’s cards here.

Thanks for dropping by today!  See ya later!

Noah’s Ark - Inspiration challenge

Noah’s Ark crop

I made this card for the inspiration challenge at SCS today.  IC166 caught my eye because my daughter and I have been shopping around for nursery furnishings for my soon-to-be first granddaughter.  I love all the fresh designs at the Hunkydoryhome website.  I’ll have to send her the link as soon as I’m through with this post.

Here’s the cushion that I found inspiration in (it has a matching lampshade too!) - Blue Magic Jungle Cushion

And here’s my Noah’s Ark interpretation of it~

Thanks for stopping by to take a look!  Have a great weekend!

Hearts & Buttons for Vicky

Hearts & Buttons crop

Today’s Featured Stamper at SCS is Vicky Gould!  She’s a wonderful stamper and her gallery is full of so much inspiration!  Congratulations, Vicky!  This is a well-deserved honor!

Here is her card - Star of Wonder - that I chose to CASE.   Isn’t it beautiful?  I used her ideas of layering the focal image on top of the layered star, and also the layout which I turned sideways.  Here’s my card:

Hearts & Buttons

I heat embossed both heart images onto the Basic Grey patterned paper and cut them out.  There’s a lot of texture here.

I think I give this to my Mom for Valentine’s Day!  She’ll love the style of it!  You should check out all the great heart/Valentine images at Rubbernecker Stamp Co.  There’s something to suit any style you’re looking for!  AND there’s free stamps waiting for you too!  You can’t beat that!

And you’re also sure to find all kinds of wonderful inspiration from my fellow design team members!  Check them out here:

Thanks for stopping by and visiting me today!  I hope you’ll come back soon!

Pink Passion Love - CTD26

Pink Passion Love crop

How about another pink Valentine??  Oh, why not!!??

I’m hosting this week’s Color Throwdown challenge, and I just love this color combo for a “hot pink” Valentine:

CTD26

I’m using my Love Banner image again!  It’s just too much fun!   Like yesterday’s bookmark, this card has a lot of texture.  I used several colored images to piece and layer the heart, roses and banner.  The die cut panels, the corrugated cardboard circle, and the dry embossed dotted card base all make for a real “touchy-feely” card!

Pink Passion Love

I really hope you’ll play along with us in the challenge.  Remember, we’ll be choosing our favorite card to determine who the featured stamper of the week will be!  You can get all the details HERE.

Be sure to visit the design team members to see their oh-so-special creations:

Thanks for dropping by to check out the post today.  See you again real soon!

Feel the Love - another Dirty Girl challenge!

Key to My Heart crop

Wow, it  seems like it’s been forever since I played in one of the Dirty Girl/Alumni challenges at SCS.   And it probably has!   I couldn’t resist this month’s challenge though.  “Feel the Love” is just too tempting to pass up!

Jodi Collins (Kharmagirl) from Stamping A Latte is our hostess this month.  Here are the specs for the challenge:

Challenge Focus: A Valentine’s Day/Love-y Dove-y card!!

Required Element: Texture!! Anything you can *feel* (ie: Fun Flock, Crystal Effects, Embossing/Debossing, velvet ribbon…and I am sure there are a million more things that I cannot think about!!)

Restricted Element: No RED!! Pink is ok…but no red…let’s see what other colors we can use for Valentine’s Day!

I chose not to make a card, but a bookmark.  This Rose Couple image is just perfect to use in a romance novel or even more perfect to use in one of the Dark Prince novels that I’m reading!  I was going to give it to my daughter…..but maybe I’ll just keep it!

Key to My Heart bookmark

There’s a lot of texture (that takes care of the required “feel” element) and there’s no arguing whether or not it’s lovey-dovey!!  And well, maybe the roses are leaning toward the red side of pink, but let’s just overlook that, shall we?!

Here’s a close up of the happy couple (you can click it to see it larger)~

Key to My Heart close up

I used a white shipping tag, and attached teal cardstock to give it more strength.  A Music background is stamped randomly on the teal and clear embossed.   I attached a spiral journaling page from Making Memories, stamped my Key to My Heart sentiment, then sponged all the edges with brushed corduroy Distress ink.

The lovely (and hot!) couple were colored with (a lot of) Copic markers, trimmed and attached to the bookmark.  I used a straight glue line of rhinestones and curved them into a swirl.

The key is stamped in black on basic gray cardstock, clear embossed and trimmed with paper snips and a craft knife. It’s attached to the tag with lots of narrow grosgrain ribbons.

I had a lot of fun making this bookmark!  Thanks for the great challenge, Jodi!!

Thanks for visiting with me today!  Check back tomorrow when I’ll be hosting the Color Throwdown challenge!

A Different Kind of Valentine…

Heart Birdhouses crop

Well, I don’t think I’ve ever made a mostly black Valentine card before!!  But I just love this Basic Grey paper (Seed from the Granola collection) and thought it went really well with the sweet little birdhouses.

Heart Birdhouses RN

It may be strange that this little stamp came to mind when I first saw Taylor’s sketch for the TECC50 challenge, but I think it’s because whenever I look out any of the back windows in my home, I see my bird feeders hanging from my curly willow tree.

Can you see the cute little bird charm hanging from the ribbon on the top of the birdhouse on the left?  That was a cool find in the jewelry department of Michael’s yesterday.

Thanks for coming by to visit again today!  See ya next time!

S.W.A.K. - Color Throwdown 25

SWAK crop

Do the young people now even know what that means?  There used to be a song back in the “olden days” that was called “Sealed With a Kiss”, by Bobby Vinton.  At least that’s the first one I remember.  I just looked it up on Leo’s Lyrics (www.leoslyrics.com) and found a few more who sang a song with that exact title:  Brian Hyland, Gary Lewis & the Playboys, Jason Donovan and Shelley Fabares.  Can’t say that I remember them all though.

CTD25

My card today is for this week’s Color Throwdown challenge, of course.  My pal Tammy chose the colors this week and you may or may not be able to tell that I struggled a little bit with this combo.  For some reason, I just wasn’t feeling the flow!  Or maybe it was because I couldn’t find just the right patterned paper to suit me!

Anyway, here’s the card that I came up with:

SWAK

I’m really digging these new curved rectangle Nestabilities!  Well, at least they’re new to me!  They worked perfectly to create this tent topper card (original design by Michelle Wooderson).

I colored my little dude (or dudette, if you so choose) with my trusty Copic markers today.  You should head on over to the Rubbernecker website and check out all the cool Valentine and heart images they have, and most of them are on sale right now.  They’ve got the best prices anywhere!!

We’d love for you to play along with the Color Throwdown challenge!   Just upload your card to your blog or to your favorite online gallery (use keyword CTD25) and link it directly to today’s blog post on the Color Throwdown blog.  Head over there now to get some inspiration from all the wonderful creations of the design team!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Another Valentine - this one’s for CPS99

You’re So Sweet crop

I’m playing along with the CPS99 sketch this week.  Here’s the link to the post on the CPS blog and here’s the sketch:

CPS99 sketch

Doesn’t Tami come up with the coolest sketches?

I flipped it on it’s side to put the 3 embellishments at the bottom.

You’re So Sweet

Let me tell you that it was NOT easy putting that tiny grosgrain ribbon through the button holes and tying it into neat little bows!!  But I did have a lot of fun coloring the cute little “You’re So Sweet” image with my Copic markers!

Thanks for checking in with me today!  I hope you have a wonderful week!  Please check back on Wednesday for the new Color Throwdown challenge.

Featured Stamper challenge card - Love Banner

Love Banner crop

I love playing along with the Splitcoaststampers daily challenges, and the Featured Stamper challenge is one of my favorites!  Today’s spotlight is on jaydekay.  She’s got some really gorgeous cards in her gallery!  Here’s her Riley Driving card that I chose to case.  I used the same layout and the same Nestabilities that she did, but changed the stamps and papers.

Love Banner

I used Prismacolor pencils again and blended with Gamsol and a stump to color in my Love Banner image.

I won’t bore you with any mundane details.  I’m off to do more stamping!!

Thanks for visiting me!
