You Know Too Much!

Know Too Much crop

I just couldn’t resist this stamp when I found it at Hobby Lobby for 50% off! And it’s perfect for the birthday card I needed for my friend, Bubbles, who just turned 50 years young!!

She’s a bright and cheerful person, so I wanted the card to be that way too!

Know Too Much

I chose paper from the Pocket Full of Posies Matstack by DCWV and then picked papers and inks to coordinate.

I used Almost Amethyst as the card base and cut the patterned piece into 4 pieces, spacing them evenly on the front of the base.

The image is stamped in Versafine Onyx Black ink on watercolor paper and painted with Stampin’ Up! markers and a waterbrush.

I added Stardust Stickles to the photo corners and the orange flower, but in this picture you can’t see the sparkle because I had to take the picture before they dried!

She loved her card….and the hot pink crocs and cell phone croc that went along with it!

Thanks so much for stopping by! See you next time! Have a great day!

Fruity Inchies

Fruit Inchies crop

I love inchies! I’ve been playing along in the Inchie Inkling monthly challenge, and this is my April entry for inchies focused on food.

The Lockhart Fruit Bowl stamp was perfect for this challenge and it pairs so well with the Stampin’ Up! Summer Picnic DSP which I love!

I actually only stamped and colored the fruit bowl once, then punched out the portion with the grapes. Well I couldn’t just toss out the rest of the image, so I punched out another portion and made a second card using the same elements and layout. I just switched up the colors and the placement of the focal image & sentiment.

Fruit Inchies

The inchies were stamped on white cardstock and colored with Copic markers, then glued onto inchie chipboard squares. I glued tiny strips of the green striped paper around the edges of the chipboard. The frames were made by punching out a square with the 1-1/4″ square punch, then centering that in the scalloped square punch. The blue DSP background for each frame was punched with the 1-3/8″ square punch. The frames were attached using mounting foam tape to raise them up to the same level as the chipboard squares.

~~~~~~~~
Ahem! I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but my blog header is a little out of date since it says “spring”!! I’m up for suggestions on sites that have free packages to download for creating a new banner. Your help would be appreciated!
Thank you for visiting today. I look forward to seeing you next time!
Stamps: Fruit Bowl - Lockhart Stamps, sentiment from Faux Ribbon - Papertrey Ink
Paper: white, bashful blue, Summer Picnic DSP
Ink: Palette Hybrid Noir for image, Versafine Onyx Black for sentiment
Dirty Dozen Challenge time again!
Celebrate America crop
Well, another month has passed since the last design challenge for the present and past Dirty Dozen girls. Hard to believe!
This month Diane Zechman was our challenge hostess with the mostess and she issued a real doozie of a challenge:
It’s called “Inside & Out”….meaning we had to stamp and decorate both the inside of our card and the outside of the envelope.
Our required element was to make it “patriotic” (interpreted any way we like)
Our restricted element - NO RIBBON
I can still hear the echoes of all the dirty girls saying “OH NO - NO RIBBON????!!!”
Now she gave us all the criteria immediately after our last challenge so I’ve had this information for a month, but do you think I started on it early? Heck no! I just started last night. I did however know ahead of time which stamps I would use.
I chose this really cool stamp called Sam’s Hat, and Celebrate America for the card and the Grand & Petite Flag Stars for the inside of the card and the envelope. They’re all from the Patriotic section at Rubbernecker. I also used the Stars wheel from Stampin’ Up! rolled in silver ink onto the red strip and the envelope (kind of hard to see).
Celebrate America
And here’s the inside and the envelope:
Celebrate America 2
So what do you think? Patriotic enough? We also have the option to send our card to the troops and Beate has graciously agreed to accept them and send them to her husband to distribute.
If you’d like to see the designs of all the Dirty Girls, just click on this link: DCIO608
Thanks so much for visiting! I won’t be around for about a week. I’m being kidnapped (willingly of course) by a motley crew (Sherry and Jeanne) next Tuesday, and we’re headed down to Orlando for StampFest. We’ll be hanging out with Kittie and Candy and Jerri Kay will be visiting too! How cool is that??
Stamps: Sam’s Hat, Celebrate America, Grand & Petite Flag Stars - all from Rubbernecker’s Patriotic section; Star wheel - Stampin’ Up!
Paper: white, real red, blue textured, vellum
Ink: Brilliance Graphite Black & Platinum Planet
Best Friends at the Beach
Good morning!
I’m currently at the beach with my daughter and her almost 2 year old with no access to the internet and barely any cell phone signal; basically just out-of-touch!
While I’m away I thought I’d share this beachy card that I made several months ago.  It was made using a previous sketch from Jen del Muro’s  SFYTT series (seen here).  I love the multi-overlapping panels she used. Thanks for the inspiration, Jen!
Best Friends at the Beach
The image for this card is from My Favorite Things, called By the Seashore, and was stamped on kraft paper and colored with Copic markers. I used my white gel pen to color in the girl’s shirt. I stamped the white panel with one of the Itty Bitty Background stamps from SU – hoping that it would look a little like sand. Then I stamped the seagull on the pylons on white paper twice, colored it in and cut the entire image from one piece and just the seagull from the other.
I mounted all three of the panels on black cardstock, and then attached them all to the card, using mounting tape to raise the image panel up above the other layers. I attached the pylons and seagull image to the blue patterned paper using glue dots, with the second seagull image on top of that.
I made the sentiment label with my new little toy, a Dymo label buddy, and attached it to the bottom left of the card front. Lastly, I dotted across the bottom of the card with a black glaze pen.
Thanks for visiting! Please come back soon and enjoy your weekend!
“2 for You” Tuesdays
2 for you new
It looks like for a while I will have 2 cards to post for you each Tuesday - one for the Rubbernecker Challenge (in conjunction with the Tuesday Treasure Hunt) and one for the Jacksonbelle Embellishments Design Team Challenge.
I hope you won’t mind the extra long posts. Here goes ~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

RUBBERNECKER

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There is Beauty crop
It’s Treasure Hunt Tuesday at Rubbernecker Stamp Co. y’all! Head over to the home page to find your first clue in the hunt for free rubbah!!! Then be sure to stop by Jeanne and Linda’s blogs for a chance to win some Rubbernecker Bucks blog candy!
There are so many new and exciting things going on with the Rubbernecker Design Team! First of all, today we welcome 2 new designers to the team and I am so uber-excited to tell you who they are!! Leigh O’Brien and Tami Mayberry! Can you believe it ??? These ladies are so awesome! I can’t wait to see what they’ve done with the Rubbernecker images!
Speaking of images….there are several new images getting ready to debut tomorrow - June 4 - on the Rubbernecker website and you’re going to be getting a preview today from all the senior design team members. You’re going to be as thrilled as I was when you see these images. They’re spectacular! AND they’re designed by one of our own amazingly talented DT members!!! Wow!!! (Can you tell I’m a little excited about this??) Any guesses as to who it is??
Here’s the first card I created with one of the flower silhouette stamps for our sketch challenge today - RBC12. You can find the sketch and all the details of the challenge on Jeanne’s blog - Inky Paws. Please play along with us and link your card to Jeanne’s post today to be entered into the monthly contest to win Rubbernecker Bucks.
There is Beauty
I really love that this stamp has a combination of flowers instead of just one and the fact that it is tall enough to really be a focal point on a card!
I embossed my flower image using Versamark and Ranger Distress Milled Lavender EP. This has a grainy texture even after embossing and if you rub your finger over the image a little, you can get a more distressed look. Next I shaded the image with my W1 and W3 Copic markers, then sponged behind the image and around the edges with a sponge and Ranger Distress Old Paper ink. I added the gem brad in the center of the main flower and matted the layer onto a perfect plum cardstock layer that was cut and embossed with a long scalloped rectangle Nestabilities die.
The sentiment layer was also embossed and sponged. The lighter colored strip behind the lace is actually a shimmery vanilla piece of cardstock that I sponged with the Old Paper Distress ink.
Be sure to stop by the other design team members’ blogs to see their previews of tomorrow’s stamp release:
And check out the RBC12 designs of the new guest designers too:
JACKSONBELLE EMBELLISHMENTS
Hello Birds Galore crop
I have been waiting a long time to get the Inkadinkado Birds Galore clear stamp set. I’ve loved it from afar!! Well, let me tell you I am NOT disappointed. I LOVE this set! There are elegant birds and whimsical birds, large birds and small birds, just overall fun birds!!
This card is for the Jacksonbelle Embellishments Tuesday challenge JBE005. Kisa came up with this challenge and we’re supposed to use green, orange, and brown (or black). At first I thought “Yuck!” It’s not fall!! LOL! But once I dug into my papers and these gorgeous Prima flowers, my mind was eased! I love how this card turned out!
Hello Birds Galore
I used 2 different Basic Grey 6×6 pads - Cupcake and Sugared. They coordinated beautifully to give me the shades of the 3 colors I needed. The bird was stamped in Adirondack Espresso on a scrap of the orange paper, pressed into my Versamark pad and embossed with clear EP. I cut it out and attached it with mounting tape over another stamped bird. The swirls and the “hello” - from the Chelsea Sentiments stamp set - were also stamped in Espresso and clear embossed. The “hello” was punched with the small SU oval punch and also attached with mounting tape.
Now how about those flowers??? Aren’t they beautiful??? The green and orange solid ones are included in the Prima Urban Cosmos paper collection and the other artsy ones are from the Prima Artful Collage Flowers.
Please be sure to check out the other design team members cards and please feel free to play along by posting your card at  Splitcoaststampers  and use the keyword JBE005.
Whew! Now that’s a long post! If you’ve stuck with me this long, I certainly do appreciate it!
Thanks for stopping by to visit today. I hope you have a wonderful day!
FS69 - Go Maren!!!
Maren’s Garden Delight crop
I’m thrilled that Maren is the featured stamper at Splitcoast today! She’s a fellow Jacksonbelle Embellishments DT member, and I’ve certainly admired her artistry for a while now! Her cards are all so fresh and pretty, so it was tough to choose one to CASE. But I finally decided on this one - Dream. I love the fresh colors, the great layout and just the little glimpse of the botanical images!
I think this card will go to George’s daughter and her husband for their anniversary that’s coming up. Liz will love it!
I had a little trouble getting the holes to line up just right, so there are striped and celery circles everywhere on my work table now! I guess I’ll have to make a couple of polka dotted cards next!
Maren’s Garden Delight
These beautiful images are from the Inkadinkado Garden Delight clear set from Jacksonbelle Embellishments. They’re colored with Stampin’ Up! markers. I used my corner rounder punch to make the scallops on the bottom.
I hope you all had a great weekend. Back to the salt mines tomorrow! (Yuck!)
2 challenges, a Treasure Hunt and some changes!
Mouse Wishes crop
Whew! Hang on to your seats! There’s a lot to talk about today!
First of all there are some changes being made to the Rubbernecker weekly challenge. Starting today it will be combined with the Tuesday Treasure Hunt, and the rules have changed to allow for a lot more leeway in your designs and a lot more opportunities to enter for a chance to win. To check out all the details, please see this post of Jeanne’s: Rubbernecker Blogger Challenge Changes
Today is also the Treasure Hunt at Rubberneckers. You can read all the details and find the first clue to lead you to the treasure on the Rubbernecker Home Page.
And Kittie and I have blog candy today! To win some Rubbernecker Bucks from me, just leave me a comment and tell me what your favorite technique is.
Now on to today’s challenge. Oooh, this is so much fun! The challenge is to use the paper piecing technique. For any of you unsure of how to do this, Jeanne has a couple of great tutorials on her blog. When you take the challenge and upload your card to the SCS gallery, be sure to add the keyword RBC11 so you can be entered in the monthly drawing to win $25 in Rubbernecker Bucks!
I knew I wanted to play with these adorable little mice and they’re just perfect for this technique!
Mouse Wishes blog
I stamped these cuties 3 times on white cardstock with Ranger Distress black soot ink. I colored the first image completely with my Copic markers. On the second image, I colored and cut out the entire top of the cupcake (all but the wrapper), the mouse heads  and the cherries. From the third one, I used the frosting with the cherry on top. That’s a lot of coloring and cutting, but the result is just so darn cute! This is a large 5-1/2″ square card.
Now on to today’s project~~
I really wanted to try the Double Pocket Bag that was yesterday’s Technique Lovers Challenge at SCS. So here is my attempt.
Pondering Double Pocket blog
Jenn D really wrote a great tutorial and this is a really neat way to give a small gift such as a gift card or a few handmade cards.
My SWEET image is called “Pondering” and is from the Stamp Oasis section at Rubbernecker Stamp Co. The sentiment is also from Rubbernecker. I stamped the little girl with stazon ink on watercolor paper and painted her. Everything else is self-explanatory.
Don’t forget to hunt for the treasure and hop over to see Candy and Shelly for a chance to win some Rubbernecker Bucks! The other DT members will have some great creations for your viewing pleasure as well!
Thanks for floating by and
please come back soon!
A Teacher’s Gift
Today I wanted to share with you a gift I made for my daughter.  She’s a preschool teacher and will be receiving end-of-the-year gifts very soon from her students.  Consequently, she’ll need a few thank you cards.
I found this set of brightly colored/patterned note cards at Target on clearance for around $2.00!  I knew I could do something with them!  But they were such fun cards to start with, that I didn’t want to add too much or cover up too much of them.  So I just added 1 or 2 new elements to each.  Here is a group shot:
Gretchen’s cards
Aren’t they fun?  I almost didn’t want to give them up!
I pulled out several small stamps from different collections that I knew would look great using the fresh colors from the cards.
Gretchen’s favorite is the polka dot card with the pencil cup.  She’s already requested 2 more sets using this Lockhart image for her sons to give to their teachers.  And she wants them by next Wednesday!  Guess I know what I’ll be doing this weekend!
Besides the image, which was colored with Prismacolor pencils and cut with a circle Nestabilities die, I only added the strip of ribbon.
Pencils
This slice of lime card is one of my favorites.  I think I just love the freshness and the simplicity of it.  I stamped the lime from Stampin’ Up’s Tart & Tangy set in chalk ink and added the little thanks sentiment from Anna’s Posies for You stamp set from Whipper Snapper.
  Slice of Lime
Here is an example of the third design of note card that I altered.  How about those big, beautiful flowers!  I didn’t want to overshadow them so I just used a piece of ribbon and the scalloped flower image from SU’s So Many Scallops stamped in chalk ink.  I topped it with a clear sticker.
Scallop Flowers
The fourth design in the set of cards was so cute that it didn’t need any added stamped elements besides the thanks sentiment.  I did, however, decide to add a flower with a brad center over 1 of the flowers just for something a little different.
Just Flowers
And here are some others, using the same lime and different images from Lockhart Stamps:
Flying Angel   Slice of Lime 2   Wildflowers
That’s it for today!  I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and a fabulous Mother’s Day!!!
***************************************************************************************
I’m listing these ingredients strictly from memory, so please forgive me if I forget something or I’m not too specific~
Stamps: Garden Angel, Wildflowers, Pencil Cup - Lockhart Stamps; So Many Scallops, Tart & Tangy - Stampin’ Up; thanks! - Posies for You set from Whipper Snapper
Paper: white, note cards & envelopes - Target
Inks: Palette Hybrid Noir, various chalk inks
Accessories: Prismacolor pencils, Copic markers, ribbon, prima flower, brad, Nestabilities, Cuttlebug, clear sticker, scallop punch
Thank You Owl - a Jacksonbelle color challenge
Thank You Owl crop
Hi y’all!
Lindsey from Jacksonbelle Embellishments issued her first challenge this week!  It’s a color challenge with a twist - make a thank you card using pink, green and gray.  I didn’t have a lot of time to work on this after I got home from work last night.  I just couldn’t miss American Idol now that we’re down to the final 4.  Although I don’t think there’s much question as to who’s going home tonight!
Anyway, this is what I came up with:
Thank You Owl
I started by inking my branch stamp with going gray and then just barely touching my basic gray ink pad to the underside of the branch.  So when I stamped it, the branch was already shaded!  I added the leaves in Adirondack lettuce and the flowers in SU pretty in pink.  The nest was stamped in basic gray and the owl was stamped over it in going gray.  I cut these out together and was going to mount them, but they just kind of faded away.   I wanted them to be the focus of the card, so I decided to sponge the area behind them with willow ink, then attached the little guy in his nest on mounting tape.
You’re more than welcome to play along.  You can find all the entries for this challenge on SCS here: JBCC01
Thanks for stopping by today!
