Buzzy Huggabugg - Color Throwdown #30

Buzzy crop

Buzzy Huggabugg…..what a cutie!  I just love this little guy!  He reminds me so much of my grandson Miles, so I knew I had to have him!

CTD30

And as soon as I saw LeAnne’s colors for this week’s Color Throwdown challenge, I knew they would be perfect for a little boy’s card using Buzzy!

~

Buzzy Huggabugg

I made the clouds using a hand-cut template of thin cardstock and a sponge dabber with bashful blue ink.  Wasn’t it so cool of our fabulous banner designer, Kisa, to make it to match my card?  (She really didn’t, but it’s so cute that it does match!)  I stamped Buzzy twice and cut out the second head to color and pop on top of the main image layer.  I also decided to cut around the edges of his wings and fold them up just a little to give more dimension to him.  Key Lime Shimmerz is painted on his wings.

We’d  love to have you join us!  You could be chosen Featured Stamper of the week if your card is chosen.  It will be featured in a separate post on the following Tuesday!  Check out this week’s challenge on the Color Throwdown blog and then stop by each designer’s blog to see their beautiful creations.

Thanks for dropping by!  I really appreciate it!!

The big winter clearance sale is still going on over at Rubbernecker’s too! Don’t miss out!

Little Lovin’s Ornament

I used the tutorial at Splitcoaststampers to make this clear glass ornament. I only did a couple of things differently. I used my Adirondack paint dabber in snow cap to dab on the back of the acetate after coloring the penguin. Doesn’t he have the funniest expression on his face? I also added beads to the snow inside the ornament. I know you can’t see them in this photo, but they ARE there. I made 7 of these - 6 for all the grandkids (mine and George’s) and 1 for me!

Shimmery Snowy Jo crop

Not only is this the last Christmas creation this year, it’s also the last creation I’ll be making as a member of the Jacksonbelle Embellishments Design Team. It’s been a wonderful experience and I’ve absolutely loved getting to know all my talented, funny and creative teammates. I’m going to try to slow down the pace of my life and concentrate more on my grandkids and my aging Mom. A huge thank you goes out to Lindsey, Lynda and the whole team who have been such a joy to work with.

Shimmery Snowy Jo

This week’s challenge is a sketch. And I wanted to use this fun Fancy Pants - Happy Holidays paper one more time this year. I just realized that Snowy Jo looks dirty in the photo!! He’s not actually. He’s been painted with Angel Wings Shimmerz and he’s very beautifully shiny IRL!!

I used my Stampin’ Up! classy brass Priceless template for the snow flourish behind Snowy Jo. I used my BG10 Copic marker to paint along the flourish and behind the sentiment. I also painted both of these with the Shimmerz as well.

Be sure to check out the beautiful creations of this year’s last Jacksonbelle Embellishments DT challenge here:

Have a great day! See you soon!

RUN over there to take your pick before your favorites are gone!

Sleep in Peace

I LOVE this classic image of Girls Sleeping. This to me is what makes Christmas so special and keeps it alive when everything around us seems to be falling apart….the children. It’s all for the children.

I stamped this image on white cardstock with Distress Fired Brick ink and clear embossed it. Then I rubbed the Distress Antique Linen ink pad directly over the image. The edges are distressed and the Antique Linen and Weathered Wood ink pads were rubbed along them. I pressed the whole panel into a glue pad and added Diamond Dust glitter to the entire surface.

Sleep in Peace close up

The red snowflake was cut with a Spellbinders Snowflake Wonder die. The smaller one was punched with a Martha Stewart punch out of white paper. It was pressed into the Antique Linen ink pad, then I touched both the Fired Brick and Weathered Wood ink pads randomly on the surface. Glue and Diamond Dust glitter were added to it too. (Thanks to Anna for this fantastic idea!!)

Love and Joy crop

Tall Love and Joy crop

I made 2 cards for the Jacksonbelle Embellishments challenge today to use glitter, Shimmerz or bling. I couldn’t resist. I love this little bird and wanted to use him both on a warm vintage card and on a cool updated card. I also used the Fancy Pants Happy Holidays papers for both cards.

The first one uses all Coffee Shimmerz for it’s shininess. It’s painted on the bird, around the Layers One Nestabilities layer, and on some of the snowflakes on the card base. And how gorgeous is that Fancy Pants Lace in Amber???

Love and Joy

The second card uses Ranger Stickles in Black Diamond, Pink, Aqua, Waterfall and Stardust as well as a red Spica glitter pen and FloraCraft Diamond Dust glitter (from Hobby Lobby). The bird and the sentiment are raised up on foam mounting tape.

When I first saw this beautiful Poinsettia in theRubbernecker Winter Holidays #2 collection, I KNEW I would watercolor it. However, I then decided to watercolor it 3 times and create a cluster! It was stamped 3 times on the first piece of watercolor paper and watercolored. I trimmed it into a smaller rectangle, leaving some of the leaves to overhang the edges. Then I stamped just one flower again on watercolor paper and painted it. I cut it out and raised it up on foam mounting tape after the rest of the card was assembled. The flower centers were painted with Beeswax Shimmerz Paint.

    Snowy Jo in Lime

Put your sunglasses on for this one!!! LOL!!! I was trying to pick up the colors in this beautiful Fancy Pants - Happy Holidays paper and ended up using the lime green tones to airbrush the background of my Snowy Jo image. Actually I like these colors together, but it definitely is not your usual winter/holiday color combo.

    Snowy Jo in Lime

The image and mat panels were cut with a Labels Two Nestabilities die. I pierced the design at the bottom using an Ornare template. Don’t ya love the felt snowflakes? That’s a self-adhesive felt lace panel by Queen & Co.

You’re more than welcome to play along with us. Create a Christmas/snowflake/winter card and upload it to your favorite online gallery using JBE029 as the keyword.

Today’s card is a stair-step fold card for yesterdays Technique Lovers Challenge at Splitcoast. What a fun card to make!

    Corny Stair Step

I started with a black base and added all my cute little Rubbernecker Halloween images. The candy corns and ghost were colored with Copic markers. The moon is a circle of yoyo yellow (which I NEVER use!), sponged around the edges with Ranger Distress tea dye ink. Both the bat and the spider were stamped with Versamark and Versafine onyx black ink, then heat embossed with black detail EP. Their eyes were colored in with a yellow glaze pen. The ghost, bat, spider and one of the candy corns are all popped up on foam mounting tape. I think I’m keeping this one to put on my desk at work!

    Woodland Fairy crop

Our challenge today for the Jacksonbelle Embellishments design team was to create a 4 layer or less card. I’m not usually one to pile the layers on my cards, but just 4 layers?? That was indeed a challenge!

    Smiley from millan.net

I’ve had the Inkadinkado Beautiful Fairies stamp set for a few days (ok, weeks!) and I’ve been dying to ink them up. So here’s my first card with them. And pat me on the back..I didn’t use a single Copic marker on this card! It was really hard not to, but I did it! I colored my Woodland Fairy with Prismacolor pencils. And of course all the shimmer is from Shimmerz.

    Woodland Fairy

There are only 3 layers actually. The base of PTI Spring Moss cardstock, my DP (Prima Urban Cosmo collection), and my fairy. The flowers (except for the die cut one with the rub-on sentiment) came with the Urban Cosmo collection.

Be sure to check out all the awesome creations of the design team:

So ends another edition of 2 For You Tuesday! Thanks so much for coming by. Tomorrow is another Rubbernecker Blogger challenge and the Color Throwdown challenge of the week, so be sure to stop back by then!

    Autumn Embellishments

    Autumn Embellishments crop

Look familiar? I actually liked the colors and textures of this card so much that I chose to use it for my Autumn blog header!

Today is the Rubbernecker Blog challenge. You can check out all the details HERE.

Sherry said we should use embellishments, so I kept adding them until I ran out of room! I consider the leaves and acorn to be embellishments right along with the lace, ribbon, and hardware.

    Autumn Embellishments

The leaves are made with alcohol inks on glossy white cardstock. One of these leaves was actually made when I worked the Rubbernecker show booth in Greenville, SC, last month. The acorns were stamped on white cardstock, colored with Copic markers and then painted with my new Rustic Red Shimmerz.

Here’s a close up (click to make it even larger):

By the Light of the Moon crop

It’s time for another Jacksonbelle Embellishment sketch challenge! All the details and this week’s sketch can be found at the Jacksonbelle Embellishment blog.

I decided not to do a lot of coloring this week. Actually, I had already colored this same image, but when I went to attach it to the background I had assembled, I just didn’t like how it looked! So I stamped it again, and only painted a moon (and some moon glow) in the background with my new Beeswax Shimmerz. Now how cool does that look!!?

    It’s another Treasure Hunt, y’all!

Stop by the Rubbernecker Home Page for your first clue to find the treasure. When you find it (and don’t worry, it’s very easy!) and make a purchase, you get the treasure FREE! The treasure must be claimed between 4 am PST and 9 pm PST (that’s 7 am - 12 midnight on the East coast). All the details can be found at the Rubbernecker Home Page.

Now don’t forget that this week’s sale is on Spellbinders individual and group Nestabilities and it’s a FANTASTIC sale!

And did you know that if you purchase $25 or more of product (not including stamps or cushion), you receive 10% off your entire order??!! Isn’t that cool??!!

Shelly and Tami have BLOG CANDY today, so be sure to stop by their blogs and leave them a comment for a chance to win!

My card today is another Halloween card. This time featuring Midnite & Jack. Now I didn’t know this kitty’s name was Midnite, until after I’d colored him, so let’s just say he’s getting on in years and that’s why his black coat has faded to gray.

    Midnite & Jack

I’ve used this week’s featured sale item - Nestabilities - to cut, emboss and shade my image rectangle, and also to cut and emboss the scallop layer. I don’t know what I did before I had my Nestabilities! I LOVE them! It’s so convenient to get a precise cut and perfect mat for your images - every time!

These Halloween pals are colored with Copic markers and the image layer was sponged with a sponge dauber and Ranger Distress scattered straw ink before I removed the Nestabilities die from the paper.

Be sure to stop by the Design Team members’ blogs for more great Rubbernecker samples:

    dream create inspire crop

I was playing around last Friday night and decided to combine a few challenges just to see what I would come up with. This is the first chance I’ve had to upload this card. It combines last week’s color challenge CC181 (rose red, black, kraft), the technique lovers challenge TLC183 (faux dry embossing) and a variation of Beate’s sketch challenge WSC54.

    dream create inspire

I was experimenting with an ATC transparency sheet and my Shimmerz to see how it would look. I had to dab the paint on rather than spread it, but it really looks pretty IRL. I also painted the white Prima flowers with butter cream and magenta Shimmerz.

Thanks for stopping by to take a look! Don’t forget that tomorrow is 2 For You Tuesday, so please come back for that!

    A Dear Friend’s birthday

    Flower Filled crop

My dear friend Beth recently celebrated a birthday. When I think of her, I think of rich florals, bold colors, lovely old lace, and the wonders of nature.

She lives in a 100 year old refurbished farmhouse (with 140 acres) and besides working a full time job and being a single mom, she maintains the 4 acres of beautiful landscaping around her home and collects antiques of all kinds. You should see the gorgeous treasures in her home and stored in her garage! It’s always an adventure to see her latest acquisitions!

So when it was time to make her birthday card, the beautiful Basic Grey Stella Rose paper is what came to mind first. That and flowers, birds and lace! So finally this is the card I came up with for Beth~

    Flower Filled

I just love it and almost hated to give it up! If it had been for anyone else….! She loved it too and said she was going to frame it!

The base is textured wasabi and the floral and striped DPs are both Stella Ruby. I used my Cuttlebug Just My Type border folder to dry emboss the striped DP, then sanded the embossing a little to remove some of the color. The so saffron layer is stamped with Pretty Pattern backgrounder from Cornish Heritage Farms. Both the saffron and pomegranate layers are distressed.

I sewed around the DP, added May Arts gold metallic ribbon tied into a knot through the Prima flower, lace and a Prima acrylic bird painted on the back side with Butter Cream Shimmerz. The sentiment is from the Lizzie Anne Au Naturale stamp set.
