Yeah! It’s time for the very first Color Throwdown of 2010!! Can you believe another year has come and gone??
We’re also celebrating because we have a brand new CTD designer!! She’s so cool and so talented and I bet you already know her….Kristin Bueter!! And for her initiation, we’ve asked her to start the new year off by hostessing her first Color Throwdown challenge.
You may have seen that she’s designing the beautiful digital papers for Lauren Meader’s new store, My Time Made Easy. Well, Lauren has generously donated 2 prizes, each consisting of a template and 2 of the new paper packs, for this week’s challenge. And all the design team members were given the paper to use in our creations.
The colors that Kristin chose are straight from her papers called Fluttering-by and Shutt-erfly.

~
I’ve chosen Our Craft Lounge’s Granny from Granny’s Truffles to grace this week’s Valentine themed card. Isn’t she just too cute? Lovin’ that chocolate! The wavy line background paper and the sweet gingham paper are both Kristin’s creations.

Be sure to check out all the designers’ cool creations here:
Barbara * Cathy * Danielle * Kristin
LeAnne * Tammy * Deb Horst (Guest Designer for December)

You can get all the details and rules for entering the challenge HERE.

I wanted to play along with the technique challenge at Splitcoaststampers this week. I’ve never tried the Van Gogh technique before, but it sure was fun and I can’t wait to experiment some more!
I chose Fairy Dust is a Must from Our Craft Lounge to work with and decided to try it on kraft cardstock. I love it paired with the Basic Grey Lemonade 6×6 papers.

I’m so glad you stopped by!

So did you shop the day after Christmas? I only went to a local pharmacy to stock up on Christmas wrapping paper and a few other things for next year. It was close and I didn’t have to fight the crowds! Just the way I like to shop!
I’ve got a card to show you today using the Our Craft Lounge set Shop ’til Ya Flop. This is such a fun set!!

I guess I’m ready for the holidays to be over now, but it sure was fun spending so much time with the family. Especially all the grandkids…they are so much fun! They all had a happy Christmas, so all is well in their world. How simple a child’s life is!
I hope you have a wonderful week. Thanks for stopping by!

I’m still working on my Christmas cards, folks. Am I close to panic? You betcha!!
Thankfully, this card came together so easily! I had a small sketch pad on my desk and pulled out a page, wondering how it would take stamping.
~

~
Using a Ranger mini mister, I spritzed the paper lightly with water, then stamped the solid poinsettia image from the Happy Holly-days set (Our Craft Lounge) in Ranger worn lipstick ink. The outline was then stamped in fired brick. I masked the flower and stamped the holly branch in peeled paint and used a water brush to lightly color in the leaves and berries.
When those were dry I stamped the sentiment, and cut it out with a Labels One Nestabilities die.
Earlier as I was crimping thin cardstock to insert when stuffing my bulkier Christmas cards for mailing, I thought about how long it’s been since I actually used a pieced of crimped cardstock on one of my cards. So I used the crimper on the chocolate strip, then added the ribbon and button, both tied with twine.
Well, back to the drawing board, so to speak. Got lots to do! Thanks so much for visiting!!

Hi, everyone! I have another Our Craft Lounge Christmas card to show you today. Funny, because I had already started on this card using the Cosmo Cricket Jolly by Golly paper, when I received the Zva package that I showed in THIS post. So what a coincidence that I used a very similar mix of papers as I did on that project!
~
I’ve used Laura’s sketch 40 from the 2 Sketches 4 You blog. And I also used at least 5 buttons which qualifies for the Cards Magazine challenge.

All my edges are sponged with Ranger Distress antique linen ink and if you look closely, you can see the Ranger Distress crackle paint in Rock Candy on the sheet music. (Click on the photo below.) I just love that stuff!
I used a circle and scalloped circle together at the same time to cut the black glittery paper into the wreath shape. The mistletoe is colored with Copic markers.

Thanks for stopping by again today! Have a wonderful weekend! Hopefully I’ll be finishing up my Christmas cards and be able to start a little shopping! (Yep. I said “start”. Sigh.)

Hey there, people! Well, Thanksgiving is over and now we move on to Christmas! Didn’t we just celebrate that?? It sure seems like it!
I’m still working on my Christmas cards; hoping to finish them THIS year. I had fun making this one. I layered the poinsettia, offsetting each layer a little to make the flower look fuller. It’s on top of a pre-glittered wooden snowflake which is on top of a Fleur De Lis pendant in regal rose. I just love the beautiful green rhinestones from Kaiser Craft.

Thanks for checking in with me today! Have a great one!
