This week the colors are cream and browns. Simple, huh? Not really. I usually want to add a lot of color to my cards. But I finally decided on a coffee card. You just can’t go wrong with that!

Java Minute blog

This was a simple card to make. I attached the 2 patterned papers to the card front then wrapped the ribbons around and tied each in a knot. The mug was stamped twice and colored with Copic markers. Then I cut one mug out, including the bottom swirl of steam with the mug. The vanilla main image panel was spritzed with cocoa ink, then matted onto cocoa cardstock and a scalloped rectangle of chocolate chip cardstock. This layer was then attached to the card front using mounting tape. The “Java Minute?” was stamped with Versamark and Palette Hybrid Burnt Umber and clear embossed.

I added brown Tulip Slick paint to the coffee and a coat of Ranger Glossy Accents to the mug.

Thanks for visiting! Be sure to submit your card to the color challenge for a chance to win Rubbernecker Bucks!

It’s Treasure Hunt Tuesday at Rubbernecker!

Rose Teapot crop

Well, it’s a Tuesday and you know what that means. It’s Treasure Hunt Tuesday at Rubbernecker!

If you follow the clues and find the hidden treasure, you will receive it free when you make a purchase. You can find the first clue in the Treasure Hunt on Linda’s blog today.

EDIT:  This is a message from Dave at Rubbernecker:

Treasure Hunt Tuesdays is simple today.
Just look in Rubbernecker for the “Get Well” category and find the prize. Sorry to be brief this week but we are driving out this
morning for a show in Akron Ohio and we have about 2000 miles to go.
Hope you enjoy.

Two of our Design Team Members, Sherry and Leslie, have Rubbernecker Blog Candy today. You’ll want to be sure to visit their blogs for a chance to win. While you are visiting Rubbernecker, don’t forget to check out the home page for info on how you can earn free stamps and shipping.

My card today was made as a late entry for yesterday’s Rubbernecker RBC06 color challenge to use pink, red and gray. I finally found some time to play last night and while I was at it, I decided to combine this color challenge (see details on Jeanne’s blog) with the Monday Technique Lovers Challenge TLC165 on Splitcoast. The challenge was to create a small gift card holder.

Rose Teapot blog

I used 2 stamps from the KK Originals line at Rubbernecker. I stamped the Rose Teapot and Cup (1 image) with Palette Hybrid Noir on Georgia Pacific white paper and colored the image with Copic markers. The Teacup Border - horizontal was stamped in Adirondack Shell Pink across the bottom of the card front after I had completed the cutting, scoring and punching as outlined in the tutorials which were linked in the original challenge post.

I rounded the upper corners of the image layer and matted it on basic gray cardstock which is also rounded. I added the 3 pink rhinestone stickers at the bottom of the gray layer and tied the whole card together with a piece of wide stain ribbon.

I had thought this would be complicated to make but I was so wrong! I’m so glad now that I tried it. I’ll definitely be making all of my gift card holders from now on!

Thanks so much for visiting with me today!! Be sure to hunt for that treasure and visit the ladies who are giving away blog candy this week.

Have a lovely day!

RBC05 - Fiesta!!

RBC05 Fiesta crop

Hola! Little Juan says he is ready to party!

Rules, past challenges and blog button can be found –>HERE

I thought that today’s color combination just sounded very festive! With those colors in mind, I browsed through all my patterned papers (which could really take a while!) until I found this bright striped paper. It seemed like the perfect background for a look into Little Juan’s world.

RBC05 Fiesta blog

Little Juan and Mi Casa are both images from the new KK Originals line at Rubbernecker Stamp Co.

I stamped and colored Mi Casa 3 times. Once on the main image panel and twice more on a scrap piece of vanilla cardstock. The front portion of the house is the second layer and the ladder and cacti are the third.

Poor Little Juan was stamped 4 times! But he survived! I stamped and colored him once on the main panel, then 3 more times on another scrap piece of vanilla. The second layer is the entire image placed on top of the first, the third is his serape, and the fourth is just his mustache.

The sun was made by punching a 1-3/8″ circle from a post it note, then sponging over it with Adirondack Lemonade ink, followed by Sunshine Yellow. Then, leaving that mask on, I masked both the house and the little guy and sponged the remainder of the sky with Cloudy Blue. The ground was sponged with Pebble.

The Fiesta was stamped in Palette Hybrid Noir then lined along each letter with today’s colors. The panel was cut using the petite oval Nestabilities dies. I cut slits in the ends with a craft knife in order to thread the ribbon through. This oval as well as the striped layer was sponged along the edges with Adirondack Pebble ink and a sponge dauber.

I hope you enjoyed today’s festive card and I really hope you’ll play along in the color challenge with us!

Adiós! Have a great day!

On to the card:

KK Howdy blog

These images are from the new KK Originals Cowboy section at Rubbernecker Stamp Co.   And I LOVE cowboys!!!  You know the song…..”Save a horse, etc. etc.!!”

All the edges are distressed and sponged with Ranger Distress Frayed Burlap ink.  The rope and boots are colored with Copic markers and each have 2 layers, attached with mounting tape for extra dimension.  The Howdy tag was stamped with Adirondack Espresso ink and embossed with clear embossing powder.  It is also on mounting tape. To tone down the brightness of the vanilla layer, I used the Frayed Burlap ink and my ink blending tool and pounced on the the vanilla layer as well as the tag and both the rope and boots.  This really adds to the distressed look.  I only had vanilla colored twill and it was too bright as well, so I just colored it with my Copic BG72 marker.  A pretty good match!

Thanks so much for coming by my blog today!  Don’t forget to leave me a comment for a chance to win some blog candy, and for goodness sake, head over to Rubbernecker (get the first clue from Shelly) to search for a free prize!!!

Today is the day, April 1st, that Rubbernecker Stamp Company releases the KK Originals stamps! KK Originals is a unique and fresh line of stamps by Kathy Kaberline, designed with her own unique twist. Rubbernecker Stamp Company has acquired distribution rights to this exciting line and we are so excited to be working with the images.
Sacred Vessel blog

This is one of the many Southwestern design images that are available now. The variety of images is just amazing!

My “Sacred Vessel” is colored with Copic markers. I strung some beads I’ve had forever on a strand of linen thread and laced it through holes that I pierced on each side of the vessel’s neck.

I stamped and colored the image twice and cut out just the feathers to be attached with mounting tape for added dimension.

The image that is stamped very lightly along the top and bottom borders of the aqua layer is called Bisi. It’s one of many symbols that are available.

I couldn’t decide how I wanted to stamp or place the Create text, and I still don’t know how or why I came up with this! But I like how it turned out!!

Thanks for visiting today! Don’t forget to go and hunt for the treasure!! And be sure to check out the other DT members creations. The links to their blogs are in the left column.
