And I’m one of the lucky ones to be offering BLOG CANDY today! You don’t even have to answer any questions this week. Just leave a comment on this post and I’ll let the random generator choose a winner on Wednesday morning.

Our Design Team, as always, will delight you with their creations. Head over to the Rubbernecker Blog to catch the links and find out who else has the BLOG CANDY!!

The big winter clearance sale is still going on over at Rubbernecker’s too! Don’t miss out!

Little Lovin’s Ornament

I used the tutorial at Splitcoaststampers to make this clear glass ornament. I only did a couple of things differently. I used my Adirondack paint dabber in snow cap to dab on the back of the acetate after coloring the penguin. Doesn’t he have the funniest expression on his face? I also added beads to the snow inside the ornament. I know you can’t see them in this photo, but they ARE there. I made 7 of these - 6 for all the grandkids (mine and George’s) and 1 for me!

Ink: StazOn black

Other: glass ornament, acetate, silver cord, Copic markers, Adirondack paint dabber - snow cap

Shimmery Snowy Jo crop

Not only is this the last Christmas creation this year, it’s also the last creation I’ll be making as a member of the Jacksonbelle Embellishments Design Team. It’s been a wonderful experience and I’ve absolutely loved getting to know all my talented, funny and creative teammates. I’m going to try to slow down the pace of my life and concentrate more on my grandkids and my aging Mom. A huge thank you goes out to Lindsey, Lynda and the whole team who have been such a joy to work with.

Shimmery Snowy Jo

This week’s challenge is a sketch. And I wanted to use this fun Fancy Pants - Happy Holidays paper one more time this year. I just realized that Snowy Jo looks dirty in the photo!! He’s not actually. He’s been painted with Angel Wings Shimmerz and he’s very beautifully shiny IRL!!

I used my Stampin’ Up! classy brass Priceless template for the snow flourish behind Snowy Jo. I used my BG10 Copic marker to paint along the flourish and behind the sentiment. I also painted both of these with the Shimmerz as well.

Be sure to check out the beautiful creations of this year’s last Jacksonbelle Embellishments DT challenge here:

Have a great day! See you soon!

Fruity and Experimental

Winter 2 For You 2

Whaaaat? You’ll see!

Why do I always let Christmas sneak up on me? Sunday I finally went shopping and did a little gift buying, but I still haven’t decorated AT ALL. I’m hoping to get to it this weekend. Of course, I’ll have to force myself to STAY AWAY FROM THE STAMP ROOM!!!

Fruit Wreath

I’ve had this Fruit Wreath (hence the first part of the blog title) colored for quite a while and stupidly forgot to write down which Copic markers I used, so I’ll have to apologize for not having that information for you.

The background on this card is my second favorite part (after the wreath, of course!). With the Baroque Background stamp rubber side up on the table, I inked it in Versamark, then tapped my Distress Fired Brick stamp pad over the stamp surface. I laid my olive card base over the stamp and rubbed my hand over it. After using the heat gun to emboss it, I had a great, variegated colored image.

It’s hard to tell in the photo, but the Merry Christmas is embossed with gold detail EP.

Stamps: Fruit Wreath (317-11), Baroque Background (1230 SO), Merry Christmas (387-09)

JACKSONBELLE EMBELLISHMENTS - JBE032

Experimental Cardinal crop

Our Jacksonbelle Embellishments challenge this week was to use punches, die cuts, border punches or Nestabilties on our card. I chose to use my Labels Two Nestabilities dies. I’m afraid I’d been neglecting these and using my Labels One dies so much more! I also used a Fiskars Threading Water punch.

So this is the experimental part of the post. Let me explain! I was playing around with my Distress inks and I wondered if I could sponge the colors I wanted to use for this image in the correct areas of the card stock before stamping or embossing it. This is what I came up with - I rubbed this beautiful Ornamental Cardinal stamp over my cleaning pad and instead of drying it on the other side of the pad or a piece of scratch paper, I stamped it on my white cardstock. It left the faintest of images, but just enough for me to see where to sponge my inks!

Experimental Cardinal

After sponging my colors, I stamped the image in Versamark and clear embossed it. Then I sponged over the entire piece of cardstock with Distress walnut stain. After wiping off my embossed image with an old rag, I spritzed the entire piece with a mixture of water and pearl Perfect Pearls in a mini-mister, and dried it with my heat gun. Then I stamped the image again in Distress frayed burlap a little to the left and above the original one to create a shadow.

Be sure to check out all the punched and die cut embellished cards of the design team:

I appreciate your stopping by to visit me today. Please come back tomorrow for the Color Throwdown challenge and the Rubbernecker Blog challenge.

Sleep in Peace

I LOVE this classic image of Girls Sleeping. This to me is what makes Christmas so special and keeps it alive when everything around us seems to be falling apart….the children. It’s all for the children.

I stamped this image on white cardstock with Distress Fired Brick ink and clear embossed it. Then I rubbed the Distress Antique Linen ink pad directly over the image. The edges are distressed and the Antique Linen and Weathered Wood ink pads were rubbed along them. I pressed the whole panel into a glue pad and added Diamond Dust glitter to the entire surface.

Sleep in Peace close up

The red snowflake was cut with a Spellbinders Snowflake Wonder die. The smaller one was punched with a Martha Stewart punch out of white paper. It was pressed into the Antique Linen ink pad, then I touched both the Fired Brick and Weathered Wood ink pads randomly on the surface. Glue and Diamond Dust glitter were added to it too. (Thanks to Anna for this fantastic idea!!)

Love and Joy crop

Tall Love and Joy crop

I made 2 cards for the Jacksonbelle Embellishments challenge today to use glitter, Shimmerz or bling. I couldn’t resist. I love this little bird and wanted to use him both on a warm vintage card and on a cool updated card. I also used the Fancy Pants Happy Holidays papers for both cards.

The first one uses all Coffee Shimmerz for it’s shininess. It’s painted on the bird, around the Layers One Nestabilities layer, and on some of the snowflakes on the card base. And how gorgeous is that Fancy Pants Lace in Amber???

Love and Joy

The second card uses Ranger Stickles in Black Diamond, Pink, Aqua, Waterfall and Stardust as well as a red Spica glitter pen and FloraCraft Diamond Dust glitter (from Hobby Lobby). The bird and the sentiment are raised up on foam mounting tape.

    Dec album cover crop

    I fell in love with the Memory Box Gingercake papers the instant I saw them and placed an order right away with Lindsey at Jacksonbelle Embellishments. I knew right away what I would use them for…. a December daily album for my daughter’s family a la Ali Edwards.

    Our design team challenge this week was to use a Jacksonbelle Embellishments product that you love, so I’ve been working feverishly all this past weekend to get this project completed so I could show you today. (And wouldn’t you know it, Gingercake is currently out of stock at JBE!)

    Dec album cover

    This is the front cover. It uses the Gingercake papers, of course. I also used Tim Holtz grungeboard - mixed minis for the letters and numbers on the front. They’re painted with Ranger Distress Crackle paint in Shabby Shutters. That is also a Tim Holtz fragment charm behind the star clip. The felt trees are from American Crafts Holiday House and I’m not sure where the vine felt border sticker is from.

    I won’t bore you with all the details on the inside pages. There are too many products and companies represented to mention them all, but I would be glad to answer any questions you may have about product. Just leave a comment or email me.

    Inside cover

    Dec album p2-3

    Dec album p 4-5

    Dec album p 6-7

    Dec album p 8-9

    Dec album p 10-11

    Dec album p 14-15

    Dec album p 16-17

    Dec album p 20-21

    Dec album p 22-23

    Dec album p 24-25

    Dec album p 26 back cover

    I have to explain the last page - the one for December 26. I added that page because one of the Christmas gifts I’m giving their family is a package of tickets to see the WWE in Charlotte on the 26th. The boys are HUGE wrestling fans - even dressed up as wrestlers for Halloween. I know they’re going to have a blast and I wanted to give them an extra place to put photos from that day as well.

    Here are some extra pages that are now inserted in the book to be used for extra photos and journaling. I’m quite pleased with how it turned out and I hope they will be too!

    Dec album extra pages

    Thanks so much for visiting today and spending all that time looking!

    See you tomorrow for the Color Throwdown challenge and the Rubbernecker Blog challenge. I’m hosting both of them!

    When I first saw this beautiful Poinsettia in theRubbernecker Winter Holidays #2 collection, I KNEW I would watercolor it. However, I then decided to watercolor it 3 times and create a cluster! It was stamped 3 times on the first piece of watercolor paper and watercolored. I trimmed it into a smaller rectangle, leaving some of the leaves to overhang the edges. Then I stamped just one flower again on watercolor paper and painted it. I cut it out and raised it up on foam mounting tape after the rest of the card was assembled. The flower centers were painted with Beeswax Shimmerz Paint.

    Snowy Jo in Lime

    Put your sunglasses on for this one!!! LOL!!! I was trying to pick up the colors in this beautiful Fancy Pants - Happy Holidays paper and ended up using the lime green tones to airbrush the background of my Snowy Jo image. Actually I like these colors together, but it definitely is not your usual winter/holiday color combo.

    Snowy Jo in Lime

    The image and mat panels were cut with a Labels Two Nestabilities die. I pierced the design at the bottom using an Ornare template. Don’t ya love the felt snowflakes? That’s a self-adhesive felt lace panel by Queen & Co.

    As you may (or may not) have noticed, I’ve definitely been on a Christmas kick lately. I can’t seem to stop myself. Hopefully all of this will result in my having my Christmas cards done on time this year! I certainly hope so!

    I decided to go with a simple card in order to highlight this small Noel tree. I love how it looks on the red Layers One Nestabilities die cut. It’s colored with Copic markers and highlighted with a red Spica glitter pen and a yellow Sakura gelly roll glitter pen. The Martha Stewart punch was a new purchase and I just love the way the branches looks in multiples.

    Noel Tree

    I zig zag stitched around the card, but don’t look too closely at the unevenness of it! The ribbon is SU and the button is from a tube of mismatches that I got at a great price at Hobby Lobby in the sewing department.

    Snowy Owl crop

    The Jacksonbelle Embellishments challenge this week is a sketch challenge. Lynda came up with a great one, and I’ve been wanting to use this Snowy Owl from the Inkadinkado Winter Birds set in browns and vanilla, so this was my chance. I embossed the entire scalloped oval and all the snowflakes and stars with Kaleidoscope EP. And let me tell you, it wasn’t easy holding those tiny things with the tweezers while I heated them. I’m really surprised at least one of them didn’t blow completely away!

    Snowy Owl

    Texturally, this is a really yummy card in real life, with the dry embossing, the heat embossing, the die cuts and the velvet ribbon.

    I hope you enjoyed my 2 cards for you today. Please come back tomorrow as I’ll be hostessing the Rubbernecker Blog Challenge this week!

    Snowman Tag

    So I was in a Christmas mood this weekend! And this snowman was just calling my name. I had just purchased some pieces of felt and wanted to see what I could do with them. The snowflakes you see were made by running a small piece of the white felt through the Cuttlebug using the Snowflakes #2 die. Then I added a little glue and glitter to complete them. Here’s a closer look (click to make it larger):

    Snowman Tag close-up

    I used the tag from a Basic Grey Blitzen paper collection (from last year), so all I had to do is attach it to the front of a card.

    I added glitter all around the scalloped edge and cut a small piece of brown felt to tie through the hole in the top of the tag. You have to tie it carefully though, because the felt tears very easily.

    I stamped a second snowman and colored in the hat, broom, buttons and the bow on the broom. These were then cut out and attached to the snowman image, offsetting them just a little to add an extra bit of dimension.

    I’ve got a fun Christmas card for you today. I just love this little Elf Train! It reminds me of all the great kids’ movies that will be showing before you know it. I especially love Rudolph:

    Rudolph DVD

    Fun facts about this movie:

    Rudolph no longer airs just once annually, but several times during the Christmas season. It has been telecast every year since 1964, making it the longest running Christmas TV special, and one of only four 1960’s Christmas specials still being telecast (the others being A Charlie Brown Christmas, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, and Frosty the Snowman). [Facts taken from Wikipedia.org]

    Holiday Carolers crop

    Now just because both of my cards today have snow on them and a winter theme, doesn’t mean I’m ready for the cold weather! Sadly though, it really is on it’s way.

    Don’t these little carolers and their canine accompanist just warm your heart? I love the simple drawing and the great fun it was to color! All of their fur was coated with Tulip Puffy Paint then heated. The snow and the entire sentiment oval were smushed into a glue pad then covered with fine glitter.

    Can you see the lined textured in the burgundy coat? After it was colored and shaded, I used the Copic chisel tip of the blender marker to stripe the coat. I like how it almost looks like corduroy! The dog’s mottled color was also created using the blender marker. I touched the brush tip to the dog’s colored coat to remove some of the color, creating his spots.

    JACKSONBELLE EMBELLISHMENTS - JBE025

    ~~~
    Snowy Jo Wishes crop
    Today’s Jacksonbelle Embellishments challenge was to use some of the new Christmas papers from the Jacksonbelle store. I already used some on my Rubbernecker card above and I think this poinsettia/snowflake paper from the new Fancy Pants collection was just perfect for little Snowy Jo! He’s so simple and so cute! He and his sentiment were originally attached as one stamp, but I cut them apart. I also curved the sentiment on the acrylic block so that it would fit along the curve of the Tim Holtz grungeboard flourish.
    The gorgeous paper is from the Fancy Pants Happy Holidays 8×8 paper pad. The ribbon is May Arts.
    Be sure to head over to the other design team members’ blogs to see their creations with this fantastic new product ~
