Chocolate Makes It Better - Color Throwdown #74

Chocolate Makes it Better crop

Yeah!  It’s time for the very first Color Throwdown of 2010!!  Can you believe another year has come and gone??

We’re also celebrating because we have a brand new CTD designer!!  She’s so cool and so talented and I bet you already know her….Kristin Bueter!!  And for her initiation, we’ve asked her to start the new year off by hostessing her first Color Throwdown challenge.

You may have seen that she’s designing the beautiful digital papers for Lauren Meader’s new store, My Time Made Easy.  Well, Lauren has generously donated 2 prizes, each consisting of a template and 2 of the new paper packs, for this week’s challenge.  And all the design team members were given the paper  to use in our creations.

The colors that Kristin chose are straight from her papers called Fluttering-by and Shutt-erfly.

I’ve chosen Our Craft Lounge’s Granny from Granny’s Truffles to grace this week’s Valentine themed card.  Isn’t she just too cute?  Lovin’ that chocolate!  The wavy line background paper and the sweet gingham paper are both Kristin’s creations.

Birdie Christmas Wishes - Color Throwdown #73

Birdie Christmas Wishes crop

~

Well, everyone, this is our last Color Throwdown challenge of 2009.  But don’t worry, we’ll definitely be back after the holidays with more fun and challenges for you!

The super fun and talented Tammy is our hostess this week and  she’s laid down a challenge of great fun colors!

~

CTD73

~

Our sponsor this week is There She Goes and they sent the design team some super fun images to work with!  I got the Birdie Wishes set (09-0083) which is a set of 29 stamps!!  It’s adorable and not just for Christmas.  There’s also  a birthday sentiment as well as a couple of more.  Just darling!

I did, however,  create another Christmas card.  Still plugging away at those!

Birdie Christmas Wishes

Well, fun images deserve fun papers, so I pulled out an assortment of My Mind’s Eye papers from eclectic Paperie and just had the best time creating!

The little bird was embossed on the polka dot paper using Versamark and real red ink.  I used the Sizzlits Little Leaves die for the branches and the Bigz Top Note die as a background to the main layer which was cut with the Labels Four Nestabilities die.  The bird, his wing, the ornament, and the sentiment oval are all popped up on foam tape.

Please visit the Color Throwdown blog for all the challenge details and play along with us!  We always enjoy seeing your fantastic creations!  Then head to the DT’s blogs for some wonderful inspiration:

Thanks for stopping to visit!  An Angels Landing Seasonal Celebration project is coming up very soon!  Please come back!

Pom Pom Tree - Color Throwdown #72

Pom Pom Tree crop

 ~

This week I’m hosting the  Color Throwdown challenge, and our sponsor is My Favorite Things!  Woo hoo!  Everybody loves MFT!!  Hey, did you know that I was a Guest Designer for them way back in October 2007?  Yep, I was!  That was before I even had a blog!

If you play along with us you have a chance to win a prize from them or even to become our Featured Stamper this week.  You can use whatever colors you have that are similar to this week’s choices, inspired by Basic Grey’s Eskimo Kisses.

I chose to work with Grow Love, Plant a Tree for my card.  I LOVE this set!  Even though it’s not a Christmas set, I’ve used it with the seasonal paper for a winter-into-spring card.  See the snow on the ground?

 ~

Pom Pom Tree

 ~

The pom poms represent bunches of leaves that are starting to sprout in the springtime.  Yeah, whatever….I just wanted to make some of the cool pom pom flowers that I saw on Dawn McVey’s blog!  She was inspired by the flower arrangement that Wendy Smedley made.

The bark on the tree was made by first coloring the tree trunk with Copic markers (E00, YG91, E71, E74, E77), and then touching the brush tip of the colorless blender marker to it.  Oh, and I used last week’s sketch from 2 Sketches 4 You too.

Thanks for stopping by to check things out today.  Be sure to stop by my fellow CTD designers’ blogs for more inspiration:

Please stop back by later for this week’s Angel Landing DT challenge card!  We’re finishing our edges this week!

We have some gorgeous fall colors for you this week brought together into the Color Throwdown  challenge by our super-duper talented Ms. Barbara.  Don’t you love them?

CTD70

For my card, I chose to use this new image I got from Just For Fun Rubber Stamps.  It’s called Ready for Winter and I just love the vintage look of this sweet little lady in her winter coat.  I wonder what she’s waiting for?  A train, a bus?  Hmmm.  Anyway, I decided to watercolor her, since I haven’t done that in FOREVER!!

Warm Winter Wishes - Color Throwdown #69

Warm Winter Wishes crop

Cathy has provided us with a beautiful warm  color combination this week for the Color Throwdown. It’s just perfect for this time of year…fall and Christmas!

Swatch 69

We’re lucky enough to be sponsored by Flourishes this week! We were all so excited to be able to work with their gorgeous stamps! My choice was the Seasonal Wreaths. Just perfect, no matter what time of year it is!  Here’s my winter card:

Warm Winter Wishes

There are 3 layers to the wreath.  Each one is trimmed a little differently and attached using foam tape, providing additional dimension and texture.  The top layer of the wreath, the edge of the sentiment circle, and all the brown branches are coated with a thin layer of Rock Candy Distress stickles for a beautiful subtle glazed look.

We Are Family - Color Throwdown #68

We Are Family crop

This week I’m hosting the Color Throwdown challenge.  Simon Says Stamp! is our sponsor and when I received my package from them I was excited to see that there was some beautiful handmade Washi paper included.  So that’s what I based my color choices on.

CTD68

I love the bright colors and they worked so well with this adorable We Are Family Dolls stamp set.  I even used a small strip of the Washi paper to create the tiny fan that the Mom is holding.  I simply used a fan fold and then tied it together at the bottom with black quilting thread.  And how cute is that little puppy??

We Are Family

We’d love for you to join us this week.  The colors are fun and you could win a prize or become our next Featured Stamper!  You’ll find all the challenge details at the Color Throwdown blog.   C’mon over and play with us!

Here are links to the talented designers.  Check out their creations!

Tidings of Joy - Color Throwdown #67

Tidings of Joy crop

It’s time for Color Throwdown #67Tammy is our hostess-with-the-mostess this week and she’s chosen a wonderful color combination.  I wasn’t sure it would work for Christmas (I am hot and heavy into creating as many Christmas cards as possible before the rush!), but then I pulled out this Snowed In paper kit from My Mind’s Eye that I got at my LSS (Southern Scrapbooks) last year. I couldn’t use the soft sky with it, but Papertrey’s aqua mist worked perfectly!

Here’s this week’s color combo:

CTD67

And here’s my card based on Laura’s Sketch 38 from 2 Sketches 4 You.

Let It Snow (but please don’t really!) - Color Throwdown #66

Let it Snow crop

Would you just look at that precious face??  I just can’t stop looking at it and smiling!  This little fella has complete stolen my heart!

He’s one of the adorable Penguin Chicks from Angels Landing.  And I chose him to be on my Color Throwdown card this week.  The colors that LeAnne presented us with just seemed perfect for a warm woolen hat and scarf.

CTD66

The blue background layer is covered in sparkly snowflakes as is his snowy fur.  The snow on his little sign is liquid pearls with a touch of glitter as well.  The sheer, sparkly edged ribbon was heated just enough to crinkle the ends.  He’s colored with several different shades of grey markers (and qualifies as an entry to this month’s Copic Creations challenge - coloring black with copics).

Let it Snow

We would just love it if you would play along with us!!  We don’t have a sponsor this week, but you have a chance at being chosen Featured Stamper of the week!!  You can find all the details on the Color Throwdown blog and then there’s so much more inspiration here:

Barbara * Cathy *Danielle

LeAnne * Tammy * Lisa Kind (Guest Designer for October)

I can’t believe this is already Lisa’s last week as Guest Designer!  Thank you so much, Lisa, for joining us and allowing us to showcase your gorgeous creations!

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I’ll have a new Angels Landing creation for you at 9 a.m., so please come back!
