Teddy Bear Hugs

Teddy Bear Hugs crop

I had to have a quick and cute card for a co-worker who has just had gall bladder surgery.  I thought this might put a smile on her face and let her know how much I care.  I mean, seriously, how can you not smile at a pink Kim Hughes teddy bear and Basic Grey Urban Prairie paper??

SMILE! - Color Throwdown #31

CTD31Smile crop

SERIOUSLY!!!!  How can you not smile when you see any of Kim Hughes‘ little critters??  I especially love these sea creatures - Ocean Friends.

So when I saw what colors Tammy chose for the Color Throwdown challenge this week - colors of the ocean - I knew which stamp set I would use!

CTD31

I really had fun with this card.  I love the wave and decided to use it twice.  I also wanted a bubbly feel so I stamped and clear embossed the Large Polka Dot backgrounder on the kiwi kiss layer as well as on the ocean blue layer (even though you really can’t see it there).

Smile

The shark is stamped on textured bashful blue cardstock and he, the seahorse, the coral and both waves are popped up on dimensionals.  I stamped the “smile” on kiwi kiss cardstock, added the clear circle sticker, trimmed around it, and popped it up as well.  I used my white gel pen to highlight the shark’s teeth and the seahorse’s eyes.

Speaking of seahorses, did you know that the female seahorse lays her eggs in the male’s pouch and he carries them until they hatch?  When I was very young, we lived in Florida and had a saltwater aquarium.  I remember being totally fascinated by these graceful creatures and was so excited to watch the babies come shooting out of the dad’s pouch as they hatched!

We’d love for you to play along with us this week!  Remember, you could be the next Featured Stamper!  Here are the details - Color Throwdown Featured Stamper.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Just a note…

Published by bronih under Family, Just talking

We had a great time at IKEA!  We were mostly looking for furniture for GS Miles.  Here’s a bed we found that he just loved:

Bed for Miles

Here’s Miles and Gretchen trying out some mattresses while his Mom was shopping:

And here’s a little something I picked up (the bedding):

Bedding for me

All in all, we had a pretty productive day, considering almost every person in 5 counties was there!!  Talk about feeling like cattle!  But I still can’t wait to go back!

Happy Days Flower

Happy Days crop

I was just thrilled to see that yesterday’s Ways to Use It Challenge - WT206 - was to use stripes!  I had finished this card last weekend and was trying to find time to write up the blog post.  Julia gave me the nudge I needed!

I found a package of Basic Grey Sugared chip stickers on sale at Michael’s not too long ago.  I’d never used these before, but discovered that they’re really cool and easy to use! And I love the way they look on a card!  How about you?  What do you think?

Happy Days flower

The Bigz Top Note die was used to cut a piece of fabric from the S.E.I. linen assortment, which is meant to be used for craft projects.  It has a backing which gives it a little more stiffness than regular fabric.  So easy to work with!  I added a few buttons and hemp twine and the card was done!

I’m definitely loving these chipboard stickers for a fast and easy card!

And you know what?  I just remembered that when I made this card I had last week’s WT challenge in mind - WT205 - to use fabric!

It also uses CPS sketch #102!  I always seem to be a week behind on challenges!  I probably just need to quit my day job so I can keep up with what I REALLY want to do!!

Thanks for dropping by for a visit today!

Buzzy Huggabugg - Color Throwdown #30

Buzzy crop

Buzzy Huggabugg…..what a cutie!  I just love this little guy!  He reminds me so much of my grandson Miles, so I knew I had to have him!

CTD30

And as soon as I saw LeAnne’s colors for this week’s Color Throwdown challenge, I knew they would be perfect for a little boy’s card using Buzzy!

~

Buzzy Huggabugg

I made the clouds using a hand-cut template of thin cardstock and a sponge dabber with bashful blue ink.  Wasn’t it so cool of our fabulous banner designer, Kisa, to make it to match my card?  (She really didn’t, but it’s so cute that it does match!)  I stamped Buzzy twice and cut out the second head to color and pop on top of the main image layer.  I also decided to cut around the edges of his wings and fold them up just a little to give more dimension to him.  Key Lime Shimmerz is painted on his wings.

We’d  love to have you join us!  You could be chosen Featured Stamper of the week if your card is chosen.  It will be featured in a separate post on the following Tuesday!  Check out this week’s challenge on the Color Throwdown blog and then stop by each designer’s blog to see their beautiful creations.

Thanks for dropping by!  I really appreciate it!!

Potted Sunflowers

Potted Sunflowers crop

I had to get in a quick post today.  I just loved Taylor’s sketch this week and since today is the deadline to submit a card, I needed to post it now.  Oops!  Too late again!  It had to be posted by 8 a.m. PST.  Dang!  I had this made on Saturday but thought I had plenty of time to post!  Oh well, maybe I’ll get one in again next week.  But on time!!  This is already the second week I’ve missed the deadline!  Anyway, here’s the card I made~

Potted Sunflowers

I have several Stampin’ Up! sets that haven’t seen ink yet and since my new order will be here on Wednesday, I thought I’d better get busy!  I made a few cards over the weekend and will be showing them this week I hope.  If I can get the posts written (and on time), that is!

Thanks for visiting!  See you on Wednesday for the Color Throwdown challenge.
