2 For You Tuesday #17

2 for you new

Good morning, everyone! I had so much fun creating the cards for today. Fun cards are my favorite!

Before we get to the cards, let’s see to business~

RUBBERNECKER - TREASURE HUNT TUESDAY

~~~
Smiley from millan.net
Arrrr ye mateys, it’s Treasure Hunt Tuesday at Rubbernecker. Hop on over to the Rubbernecker Stamps Blog so you don’t miss those Design Team Members who are offering up Rubbernecker Bucks today. You’ll also find your first link in today’s treasure hunt!
Our Design Team, as always, will delight you with their creations. Be sure to visit their blogs.
And guess who has blog candy?? ME!! So if you want a chance to win Blog Candy from me, just leave me a comment and let me know who your favorite Halloween monster is. Mine is Dracula! As I’m sure you can tell from my first card! (I’ll pick the winner by Random Generator on Thursday morning.)
Fang 2 crop
I think the bat in this image is supposed to be named “Fang”, but I thought it was a cute nickname for this little blood-sucker! Vampires seem to be the “in” monster right now, with the popularity of science fiction novels and series starring them! I’ve finished the Twilight series (Stephenie Meyers) and the Southern Vampire series (Charlaine Harris), and will begin the Dark Prince series (Christine Feehan) soon. I just can’t seem to get enough!
Now on to the card.
Fang 2 RN
I’ve used a piece of copper sheeting for the scalloped layer, which was run through the Cuttlebug with the Swiss Dots folder first, then with the scalloped circle Nestabilities die.
Fang 2 close up
I also used a Cuttlebug tiny tags die for the little name tag.
The copper piece at the bottom was punched with a Fiskars threading water punch. I wondered how hard the copper would be to work with, but it was a breeze! Here’s a close up: (you can click to see it larger)
The image layer and the bat and trick-or-treat sack are all popped up with foam mounting tape.
All the coloring was done with Copic markers.
Fang 2 Copics
Here are the card details~
JACKSONBELLE EMBELLISHMENTS - JBE022
~~~

Cocktails crop

See, I told you I had some fun images today! I just love these little chickens (or roosters? or hens?). Actually I’m going to call them Gamecocks, since the University of South Carolina’s mascot is the Gamecock and the school colors are Garnet and Black. Both of my sisters graduated from there, so they’ll probably have to duel it out for this card.

I thought it might be a little tedious to color such a small image (i.e. the tiny lines in the tail feathers), but it really was a lot of fun. I had fun creating the chicken scratch (or could it be something else?) too!

Cocktails JBE

I used Copic markers to color in this image as well.

Cocktails Copics

Please play along in today’s Jacksonbelle Embellishments challenge - to use any JBE products! The keyword for this week’s challenge is JBE022.

Here is a list of the other design team members. Please check out their amazing creations today as well.

And here’s a link to the Jacksonbelle Embellishments BLOG to catch up on all the latest happenings!

Thanks for visiting me again today! Tomorrow I’ll have the Color Throwdown challenge card of the week and the newest Rubbernecker Blog challenge as well.

Peace on Earth

Peace on Earth crop

Just a quick post today. I had wanted to play in Friday’s Limited Supplies Challenge on Splitcoaststampers, but just found the time today. I bought this Peace on Earth stamp set at the Heritage Stamp Show in Greenville, SC, and thought this was the perfect opportunity to use it!

Peace On Earth SCS

I used a couple of last year’s Daisy D’s 8×8 paper pads for the paper, along with white, kraft and black. And I used my Copics to color the image.

That’s it! Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Rubbernecker Blog challenge - week 2

The Kid crop

This week’s Rubbernecker blog challenge is to use chipboard or grungeboard. You can get all the details here and also link your card there if you decide you’d like to play along with us!

I chose to use some of my Tim Holtz Idea-ology grungeboard from the mini set. I love this stuff! It’s pliable so even if you paint it or add paper to it, it can still be bent and shaped however you like.

Now tell me what you think of this chick:

The Kid

I just love her! What personality and attitude! That’s how I would’ve liked to have been in my younger years, but was always too timid to be!

My grungeboard wings were painted with Distress Crackle paint in Peeled Paint, then a rhinestone was added. The Kid was colored with my Copic markers.

The Kid copics

Thanks for joining in the fun today. Please come back soon!

Color Throwdown - Week 12

Treat Kitty crop

Today it’s time for another Color Throwdown color challenge - #12 to be exact. This week’s colors were chose by Tracy and they’re definitely traditional Christmas colors: Real Red, Old Olive, and Kraft.

CTD12

However…….I’ve chosen not to use them for a Christmas card, but for a Halloween card. I know, call me crazy! I just thought I’d be different! And I’m really not ready to admit that Christmas is just around the corner! So here’s my little Treat Kitty.

Treat Kitty

The red layer was run through the Cuttlebug with the Spots & Dots folder. The bag, hat, hat band, buckle, star, and kitty paws are all paper pieced and shaded with Copic markers.

Stop by the design teams’ blogs to see their cards:

And we’d love for you to play along. Just link your card directly to today’s Color Throwdown blog post. I’d really like to see what comes to your mind when you decide to play with red, olive and kraft!

Pilgrim Boy crop

It’s official! Yesterday was the first day of fall. (Even though it was 80 degrees outside!) There’s definitely more of a nip in the night air and there most certainly are fewer precious daylight hours. I love this time of year (but I’m also sad that summer is officially over).

To celebrate the fall season, I’ve pulled out this cute Little Lovin’s Pilgrim Boy from Rubbernecker. Isn’t he darling? I believe he could be the John Smith to my little Indian girl’s Pocahontas from last week.

Pilgrim Boy

I don’t believe this card requires much in the way of an explanation. There’s a little bit of stitching as you can see, with a couple of brads and a ribbon added. Here are the Copic colors used:

JACKSONBELLE EMBELLISHMENTS - JBE021

~~~
Spirit of Christmas crop
Have you been playing along in the Jacksonbelle Inkadinkado challenge? All you have to do is to create a card following one of the sketches that have been posted on the Jacksonbelle Embellishments blog and using one of the newer Inkadinkado stamps. You can enter as often as you like, just remember to email each of your cards to Lynda at lynda.benden@gmail.com. You can find all the details here.
Here is this week’s sketch:
JBE021 sketch
Ok, I know it’s small here. You can view it larger at the Jacksonbelle Embellishments blog. I love this sketch and I think it’s one I’ll use over and over.
I’m going with a Christmas theme on this one today.
Spirit of Christmas
Again, a simple card. I’ve only stamped the little Bird Ornament and the sentiment and there’s no coloring at all on this one. I did more cutting and piercing than anything else!
Please play along in the challenge. There are some fantastic prizes!!!
Go check out the Design Team’s creations here:
Also, please keep Lindsey and her family in your thoughts and prayers. Her son has been in the hospital with strep pneumonia since last week. He has shown improvement and they were to remove him from the respirator yesterday.
Thanks so much for coming back by today. There’ll be 2 more cards for you tomorrow - the Color Throwdown challenge card and one for the new Rubbernecker blog challenge. So be sure to come back!
Celebrate Chica!
Celebrate Chica crop
As promised in an earlier post, here’s my first card using the new Kim Hughes set Mocha Chica and the fabulous Mocha Chica paper line. Scrumptious! I love the fresh colors!
This card is for my daughter’s birthday which is this weekend. I won’t be in town to help her celebrate, so I’ll get this in the mail to her and then we’ll celebrate a little later. Her husband is taking her for a special overnight excursion and my other daughter will be babysitting with little Miles. I believe everyone will have a fine time!
I tried to keep the card simple, but I wanted it to be a little different also. It ended up being an 8 x 4 card because I simply took one of the 8 x 8 Mocha Chica papers and folded it in half for the card base. Perfect!
Celebrate Chica
The birds and branches were stamped in Memento Rich Cocoa on small pieces of the Mocha Chica papers and shaded/highlighted with Copic markers and a white gel pen. All the ovals are mounted on foam tape. I ran my W1 Copic marker around the edges of the ovals to make them stand out a little better against the background. And can you see the tiny pink rhinestone sticker in the center of the ‘a’ in celebrate?
Thanks for stopping by and I hope to see you soon!
Dirty Girls One Layer challenge
Single Reindeer crop
Every month over at Splitcoaststampers, Jami issues a specific challenge to the Dirty Girls - past and present. And each month on the 20th, we are to reveal our completed challenge cards.
Our assignment this month, if we chose to accept it, was to make a single layer card. The required element was to use masking (or reverse masking). The restriction was to use no pink. So could I follow these simple instructions? Heck, no! This is actually the second of 4 cards I made trying to come up with one that I liked.
On the first one, I used pink. Duh! So then I attempted this PITA with hours of coloring involved and really didn’t like the end result. So on to cards 3 and 4 - the third one had no masking, the fourth was just too plain.
So I’ve finally decided you could see this card. Please be kind!
Single Reindeer
There was actually a lot of masking done on this card. I think if I had to recreate it, I would be at a loss. Like I said, it took hours of masking, coloring, stamping, sponging, then more and more coloring.
That’s it for today. Maybe one day I’ll show you the 3 rejects!
Thanks so much for stopping by today. You can see all the Dirty Girls’ challenge cards here: DCNL908
Color Throwdown Challenge #11
Heart Smile crop
It’s Wednesday! And time for another Color Throwdown color challenge! Would you look at this week’s gorgeous color combination? So yummy!
CTD11
I couldn’t wait to try these colors out. At first I thought a masculine card would be just perfect. And it would, except I just didn’t know which stamp sets to use. The more I browsed, the more I thought maybe elegant would be the way to go. So this is what I came up with:
Heart Smile
Baroque background was stamped in Adirondack Espresso onto the old olive layer. The sentiment is also stamped in Espresso. The flower/leaves silhouettes are stamped in Lettuce and Aqua.
I used my Spellbinders oval Nestabilities for the sentiment layers. The overall card size is 5 x 5.
Please stop by the Color Throwdown blog to check out the design team’s creations or just visit their blogs here:
Cupcake Mice crop
What’s this, you say? A second card on Wednesday???
Well, sure! That’s because there’s a NEW RUBBERNECKER WEEKLY CHALLENGE. Check it out on the Rubbernecker blog.
This week’s challenge is to use Spellbinders Nestabilities! Easy, peasy! I have a bunch of them and use them on practically everything anyway!! Uh, did you notice I used them on the Color Throwdown card as well!? I couldn’t help myself! There’s no easier way to cut a layer for an image or sentiment!
Cupcake Mice
Or how about for the card itself? I used the largest scalloped square Nestabilities die to cut the polka dotted layer and also a white layer for the back of the card. I used Jen d’s method of attaching the back (scoring 1/2″ down from the top on the back, then gluing only that part to the front) so that my entire outer edge remains scalloped.
The image was colored with Copic markers and the cherries were covered with Star Dust stickles. I cut a slit along each side of the cupcake with a craft knife for the ribbon to slip through.
Be sure to check out the Rubbernecker blog for the challenge details, and also to see what the design team is doing, check here:
That’s it for today! Thanks so much for coming by for a visit! See you next time!
JACKSONBELLE EMBELLISHMENTS - JBE020
~~~

By the Light of the Moon crop

It’s time for another Jacksonbelle Embellishment sketch challenge! All the details and this week’s sketch can be found at the Jacksonbelle Embellishment blog.

I decided not to do a lot of coloring this week. Actually, I had already colored this same image, but when I went to attach it to the background I had assembled, I just didn’t like how it looked! So I stamped it again, and only painted a moon (and some moon glow) in the background with my new Beeswax Shimmerz. Now how cool does that look!!?

By the Light of the Moon

Please be sure to stop by and see what the other design team members have created too!

Until tomorrow, chicas! That’s when I’ll have 2 more cards for you! Yes, 2!!!
