Now for my color challenge card which also is a SNEAK PEEK of the new line of stamps that Rubbernecker will be carrying beginning tomorrow, April 1st! And this is NO April Fool’s Day joke!

These stamps are KK Originals stamps. You’ve heard of them, right? (Deets here.) You won’t believe how beautiful and diverse the images are! I LOVE them!! I used Dragonfly Bubble Dance and Dance Text on this card:

Dragonfly Dance

I had so much fun coloring this card with my Copic markers. I actually stamped the image twice, colored one of the images completely and then just colored the dragonfly and the leaves on the second image. These were cut out and I used my craft knife to cut part way along the line between the top and bottom dragonfly wings and between the leaves. I place tiny pieces of mounting tape under portions of the top wings and some of the leaves to lift these from the rest of the image. It has so much dimension in real life! Here’s a thumbnail of a close up picture. You can click on it to see it bigger.

Dragonfly Dance up close

On this second layer of the dragonfly, after I colored it with the Copic markers, I coated it with my Versamark pen and then applied some interference violet Pearl-Ex with a soft dry paint brush. The shimmer is awesome!

Thanks for stopping to read my blog today! Be sure to come back tomorrow when I’ll have another card made with new KK Originals stamps and links for the Tuesday Rubbernecker Treasure Hunt!

Let the Cute Begin - WT159

let-the-cute-begin-crop.jpg

We know a couple who is expecting their first child - a boy, Taylor - any day now.  In fact, he was due to arrive Monday, but we’re still waiting.  I’m so excited to meet him! His mom is an SU customer of my upline’s upline and both his parents are paddling buddies of mine. We’re all trying to be patient awaiting his arrival, but it’s just not easy! This is the card I made to welcome him to the world.

I decided to use mostly SU products, and the Big on Spring set is one of the cutest stamps sets I think I’ve seen in a long time. Especially this particular stamp. I just love the adorable onsie and I especially love what it says. How sweet! I also love the new Take a Number wheel. I see so many possibilities for it!

Let the Cute Begin

I wanted to try to find a “different” color combination for a baby boy. Not the typical baby blue or primary colors. This was inspired by all the precious baby cards my friend Michele has made using atypical colors and papers. She is a true paper-crafting wizard!!

The image was stamped three times on watercolor paper and painted using SU markers and a waterbrush.  I spritzed my image panel using my SU Color Spritzer and the pale plum marker and then sponged the rounded edges with a sponge dauber and pale plum ink.

The onsie was attached with mounting tape and the tiny glittered heart is the third layer.

My pale plum layer was stamped in the same color ink with a tiny dotted swirl from the Fiskars Baby clear stamps and was cut with my Nestabilities scallop rectangle dies. I used a clear Spica Glitter pen (which I won as part of a blog candy package from StamperSharon - thanks, Sharon!) to outline the embossed edge.

I think that’s it! Thanks so much for stopping by to visit! Have a great day!

I could always eat a piece of cherry pie! I’m more of a pie person than a cake person, although I probably wouldn’t turn down a piece of cake either!

Here is my card for today: Cherry Inchies

Cherry Inchies

It’s all the craze, ya know! These inchies are taking over! And why not…..they are so darn cute and really fun to make! You don’t even have to use an entire image, just a part of one.

All of my images are from the Rubbernecker Sweets section - yum! These small images are perfect for inchies! I just stamped and colored them, then punched them out with a 1″ square punch. Voila! An inchie! The brown mats behind the inchies are made with a 1-1/4″ square punch. I used this punch for the red mat layers as well - I just trimmed them down to about 1-1/8″ square using my craft knife.

The inchies are mounted on a cardstock covered square of chipboard which was dotted using a brown marker. The cute cherry ribbon was in the $1 section at Michael’s.

Thanks for visiting today! Now leave me a comment to be eligible for the blog candy. I’ll use random.org to choose the winner tomorrow. And head over to Kittie’s blog to find the first clue for the Treasure Hunt!!!

Butterfly Sympathy - TLC161

Butterfly Sympathy crop

I really wanted to try today’s Technique Lover’s Challenge TLC161 since I didn’t get to try it when Rose Ann first posted the Flap Fold Card tutorial. I didn’t think I would have time (I’ve been doing taxes today - YUCK!), but then a friend called to tell me that one of our other friends just lost his mother this weekend. That meant I needed a sympathy card, since I can’t seem to keep those in stock, so to speak - which is not a good thing.

I decided to use some of the new SU goodies that have been sitting in a box for what seems like weeks! I can’t believe I haven’t used The Essence of Love before. I just love it and have been admiring everyone else’s creations using it. So here’s my Butterfly Sympathy Flap Fold card:

Butterfly Sympathy

I followed Rose Ann’s instructions, except I added coordinating Afternoon Tea patterned paper to the top flap as well as to the bottom. Susan (Rainy) enabled me to buy that paper! Thanks, Susan. I just love it!

The bottom DSP is stamped twice using chocolate chip ink, without reinking. I stamped the Thinking of You sentiment on 3 lines instead of 1 using my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig so it would fit in the 1-3/8″ circle, then pierced around the edges. The butterfly was stamped with groovy guava ink on textured groovy guava paper and cut out, then attached with dimensionals.

I added white paper to the inside of the card and stamped the butterfly again - in 3 generations - at the top. I used Basic Grey magnetic closures as Rose Ann instructed, but I placed one under my scalloped circle and the other in a corresponding place between the guava patterned paper and the chocolate chip card base.

I hope you like it! Thanks so much for visiting today!

This is my color challenge card -

Cherry Shake

I stamped the image in Palette Hybrid Burnt Umber ink on shimmery vanilla paper and colored it in with my Copic markers. Then I matted it on brown, then blue cardstock. The sentiment was stamped in Burnt Umber on blue cardstock and colored in with a Copic marker.

I sponged the edges of the patterned layer, the blue layer and the image layer using Ranger Distress Walnut Stain ink and my ink blending tool. Then I sewed the patterned layer to the red layer and attached it to the brown card base.

I attached the cardstock strips then attached the image with mounting tape. The Dew Drops were attached with glue dots. The last step was to coat the cherry and the entire glass with Ranger Glossy Accents.

Enjoy the challenge! I’m anxious to see what you come up with!

Thanks for stopping by!

Hey There Cupcake - Featured Stamper FS59

Cherry Shake crop

The Featured Stamper challenge FS59 on Splitcoaststampers today showcases the artistry of Amy Sheffer, better known as PickleTree on SCS. This comes as NO surprise to me, as I have been stalking Amy’s gallery and blog for months now! The hardest thing today was choosing from all her wonderful designs. I finally chose her precious Nursery Necessities card, which she says uses Julee T’s Mojo Monday sketch from week 20. So I have to thank both of these talented ladies for their creative influences! This card also fits Sharon’s Simply Saturday challenge ssnotime27, which is to use rounded corners. Thanks, Sharon!

Hey There Cupcake

I kept the layout that Amy used, the use of the ribbon and the general “sweet” feel of the card. I changed the stamp set and the colors.

I decided to use my new Hey There Cupcake set, which is exclusive to Eclectic Paperie and is so much fun to play with! I paired it with the Papertrey Ink Aqua Mist paper and ribbon and with the new Basic Grey Two Scoops 6×6 paper pad to come up with this totally yummy birthday card. I also used my new Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder. Love it too!!

Each piece of the cupcake, except the candle, is paper pieced onto the white embossed retangle. I used my craft knife to cut the slits for the ribbon to slide through and I dotted all the scallops with liquid pearls.

Hey, I just noticed that this card matches my blog banner pretty closely! Neat!

Thanks for visiting today! I trust you all are having a most wonderful Easter Sunday!

Be sure to come back tomorrow for a sample of Jeanne’s new Rubbernecker color challenge!

Thanks…..Broni

Happy Summer - Inspiration Challenge IC120

Happy Summer topper

When I saw that Stef had posted a beautiful beach bracelet as the inspiration for today’s challenge IC120 on Splitcoaststampers, I knew I had to play. It just took me all day to be able to make my card and to post it.

We’ve had beautiful weather here today - 72 degrees and sunny. So I’ve spent most of the day in the yard, cleaning out the flower beds and getting ready for spring. I am so ready!

My card uses the colors and the shells of the inspiration photo.

Wouldn’t you just love to be in that chair by the ocean? I know I would.

All the stamps and inks are from the Rubbernecker Beach Party section. The patterned paper is from the DCWV Old World mat stack.

Thanks for visiting my blog today!
